Memories - the June chapter

documenting fond and fun memories so i don't lose them.. and of course, to make space for new ones.

-Jun: at my last workplace, we all needed to take a photograph and update our work profiles.. a fancy photographer was hired. after a long wait and a huge bill, we all got the absolute worst photograph of our lives! it was amazing how this person single-handedly made each one of us look unbelievably ugly.

-Jun: so we saw this fun video of a guy enacting the mahabharata theme song by holding up his finger and aligning it to the running ceiling fan to make it look like he was krishna with his sudarshan chakra.. bobo and i had a whale of a time recreating that shot with our fan running and it came out just fine!

-Jun: that time when bobo and i bought a huge bunch of white onions from the mangalore store.. they were all the same size, beautifully shiny and tied into a bunch with their stalks.. a proper eye candy!

-Jun: When I lived by myself in btm 1stg, i used to get home late in the evenings and quite exhausted... one day, a little boy rang my door bell and told me the bakery guy had sent him to tell me that i had not rolled up my car windows.. so i went down to check and lo and behold! not only was that true, the key was still in the ignition.. i thanked the guy no end!

-Jun: when i was very little, i would go to the kitchen every now and then and beg mom for some sugar to eat.. mum would drop the tiniest amount in my eager palms.. it'd make me so mad.. and each time she did that, i made a steely resolve in my little head that one day when i'd grow up and have a kitchen of my own, i'd eat as much sugar as i wanted! i still remember the anger i felt at mum's miserliness.

-Jun: this is more from mum's memory.. i once asked her if i could eat a banana from the bunch she had just bought.. mum told me to keep one for god first.. and left the room. she came back to me having alread eaten many of the bananas and still going strong.. explaining to her that i had kept one for god first!

-Jun: on a hot day at an NCC camp, we had queued up for some lemon juice. the girl-in-charge would hand out a glass of juice and mark our names off a list she had.. when it was my turn, she gave me my juice but forgot to mark my name off. i returned the glass, went back to stand in the queue and when i came up again, she was quite confused as she clearly remembered me from earlier. i was known to be a quiet, soft-spoken girl compared to my boisterous team-mates so i just stood around shyly till she  handed me another glass and this time marked me off. Later I narrated this incident to my NCC teacher and told him that I had not lied but not let go of the opportunity either. He was quite proud of me and said that I'd do very well in life(aap bohot aage tak jaoge beta)!

-Jun: this is a fun memory of dad calling me a "lazy goose" at a time when "lazy latif" was more popular.. and he made a funny pout when he said the goose part..

-Jun: and mum thought i might have been a buffalo in my last birth because of my affinity to water and penchant for long baths..

-Jun: a recent memory... i was teasing my father-in-law.. i asked him "didn't modiji send you an invitation for the ram mandir opening?" and he replied "the letter's gone to the surat address"... i was amazed at his presence of mind!

-Jun: another recent memory.. one weekend afternoon, bobo and i were watching a movie in bed on his laptop that was propped on a few pillows.. during the break, i filled a plastic food container with ice cubes and stuck two super-tiny appy(soft drink) bottles in it... to resemble drinks in ice-buckets. it looked so cute and convincing and when bobo saw it, he burst out laughing.. we had a great time drinking out of our make-shift ice-bucket!

-Jun: this is the memory of mom and dad telling us that they had watched the filming of the song 'dil ke tukde-tukde karke muskurate chal diye'... every since, it has been my favourite song though i find it neither catchy nor melodious!

-Jun: dad also watched bits of filming of the movie 'pyar jhukta nahin'... while in darjeeling

-Jun: speaking of movies, when i worked at oracle.. our ceo starred briefly in one of the ironman movies.. and we all got a free ticket to go watch the movie in the nearby mall.. that was fun!

-Jun:
